Integration of a Data Analytics Platform

A data analytics platform often provides the foundation for business decisions regarding product development, cost optimization, and enhancing customer value.

Background

“Informed decisions” is a buzzword that is becoming increasingly important. The term refers to decisions that are based on facts.

However, accessing the right analyses and a structured database for specific questions in a straightforward and efficient manner poses a challenge for existing organizational structures. Particularly when dealing with questions involving diverse data sources—such as market, product, or customer data—it is not always clear who the appropriate point of contact is, and data quality often varies significantly.

In order to make efficient use of the company’s existing data, connect data requesters and analysts as directly as possible, and collect new data in a targeted manner in the future, a centralized, company-wide data analytics platform needed to be established for our client.

Specific task

Establishing and integrating a data analytics platform to make existing analyses and new analysis requests accessible company-wide.

KBC's Approach

The prerequisites for establishing and embedding a data analytics platform were the development of the necessary process structures and a corresponding collaboration model, as well as securing the commitment of the business units to scale the platform.

To ensure targeted growth in data analytics, we have established a network among the lead departments and coordinated their activities. In addition, we support our clients in project management for the lead department by:

  • Management of various channels to ensure comprehensive integration of the three data streams—vehicle, market, and customer data—within this platform
  • Development of a comprehensive KPI system for tracking and expanding the platform
  • Development of a communication strategy for the company-wide rollout of the platform

We also assist our clients in preparing, conducting, and following up on a series of workshops aimed at defining a process with a focus on ease of use for customers. This included:

  • Conducting various workshops with relevant analytical units to resolve conflicts of interest among stakeholders and adapt the collaboration model
  • Development of a scalable and detailed process flow for the platform rollout to the business units, including the definition of the necessary roles
  • Identification and preparation of pilot projects, with the derivation of best practices

Impact achieved

A scalable collaboration model has been developed and is currently being implemented.

A data analytics platform has been established as the company-wide central hub for vehicle, market, and customer data.

More than 43 specialized agencies contribute content to the central platform, and over 1,500 users are already active on the platform.

Proof of concept: Manufacturing and warranty costs were reduced through decisions made during product development that incorporated the results of the analysis.
