We implemented a strategy for a leading plant engineering company to drive sustainable disruptive innovations. Our goal was to identify and realize significant cost-saving opportunities across existing production facilities, processes, and technologies without compromising product quality or workplace safety.

Background

The customer faced the challenge of significantly reducing CAPEX costs in order to free up capital for sustainable investments.

Specific task

Our task involved conducting workshops and one-on-one sessions at the national and global levels, with a focus on the practicality and immediate applicability of the procedures and methods developed. In addition, we were tasked with establishing a transparent reporting system to improve the traceability of the stated goals.

KBC's Approach

We implemented disruptive innovation strategies and established a program management framework tailored to the client’s organization. As part of the implementation, we developed, among other things, a modular product catalog to reduce project-specific cost overruns and created transparency regarding the existing target gap across all relevant areas of the company. By analyzing and critically evaluating established standards and procedures within the network, we identified levers for further optimization.

Impact achieved

Our approach made it possible to significantly reduce CAPEX costs and free up capital for sustainable investments. We implemented the individual projects we had developed with measurable success and expanded our disruptive innovation approach to other areas of the company. The implementation focused on feasibility, usability, and sustainability from both economic and social perspectives.
