Design and implementation of a concept for the “Factory of the Future”

Globalization, as well as environmental and economic factors, present companies with new challenges. A well-thought-out digitalization strategy can make a company’s value chain more efficient and sustainable, thereby ensuring its competitiveness. Helping to shape the future means developing a vision today so that we can chart a course toward a successful future.

Background

Our client, a global industrial company, is facing new challenges in its value chain. These challenges require a reevaluation of its existing global production network as well as the technologies used in its current and planned facilities.

Specific task

The goal of the project is to develop a holistic vision and an action plan for realizing the “Factory of the Future.” Digitalization is a key driver for achieving this vision. In this context, the networking and automation of production, as well as transparency regarding digitalization initiatives and their synergies, play a crucial role.

KBC's Approach

First, the requirements for the “Factory of the Future” were identified. The main focus was on identifying and aligning requirements from customers and the (future) market, the company’s growth trajectory, and the sustainability of the production network. Based on this, the vision for the Factory of the Future was developed with the involvement of an interdisciplinary team.
To achieve this vision, a roadmap was ultimately developed, outlining specific measures, priorities, and responsibilities.

Her hands are on her hips, and she has an energetic and open posture.

Impact achieved

A cross-organizational consensus was reached regarding the requirements for the “Factory of the Future.” A shared vision for the “Factory of the Future” was defined and agreed upon—with a clear digital transformation roadmap for all participating teams.
