Introduction to (Quality) Management Systems

Companies must have a standardized and effective quality management system in place—for example, one compliant with DIN EN ISO 9001—in order to remain competitive on the global market. As part of the certification process, an independent certification body evaluates the company’s processes, structures, resources, and risks, and documents its process and procedure guidelines. This enables continuous improvement.

Preparing for DIN EN ISO 9001 Certification

The DIN EN ISO 9001 quality management standard sets out requirements for organizations, taking into account the entire value chain, including development. Certification serves as proof of the organization’s quality and efficiency to customers and other external stakeholders.

Companies that implement a quality management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001 typically face a variety of challenges. In our experience, developing and consistently implementing a project plan as part of the certification process is a key factor for success. We support you in setting milestones, identifying responsible parties, establishing measures, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders. We take an active leadership role in the implementation by continuously monitoring the schedule and tracking progress.

Once the preparatory phase has been successfully completed, you can have an independent certification body conduct the audits for DIN EN ISO 9001 certification.

Follow-up to the certification

However, certification alone is not enough. Only through the consistent implementation of the individual elements can the efficiencies of the quality management system be leveraged, thereby creating real added value for the organization. To embed quality objectives within the company in a sustainable manner, we recommend first developing a company-specific quality manual. Our quality expertise and deep experience in change management enable us to embed quality orientation, structures, resources, and responsibilities, as well as related processes and methods, within your company. We not only assist you in appointing a quality representative but also work with you to create a responsibility matrix. All roles, responsibilities, and interfaces are thus transparently communicated and agreed upon. In addition, we support you in defining and implementing the relevant procedures and work instructions.

Benefits of a Quality Management System

By standardizing processes, setting clear objectives, and clearly defining roles and responsibilities, inefficiencies in workflows can be eliminated and productivity increased. Employees can focus on their core tasks, which are clearly defined by the QMS. Furthermore, by optimizing processes and increasing transparency, product quality can be improved over the long term, and error costs and complaint rates can be reduced.
