Improving Quality and Care Delivery

KBC brings together expertise on the top priorities of suppliers and OEMs—whether in procurement, industrialization, or mass production.

Background

Tight cost targets at OEMs and ever-shorter development cycles are increasing the pressure on suppliers. To meet these growing demands, suppliers must adapt accordingly, streamline their processes even further, and continuously improve product quality. Volatile demand and last-minute changes in requirements constantly demand quick response times from suppliers. KBC supports companies in operating successfully throughout all project phases (development, pre-production, and series production) and ensuring a steady supply at all times.

Specific task

  • Differentiating from the competition before the contract is awarded
  • Fill in the gaps in expertise regarding bid pricing and OEM requirements
  • Manage the extremely tight deadline for submitting the comprehensive proposal
  • Short-term relocation of the production site and construction of a new plant required prior to SOP
  • Stabilization of process and product development through to SoP (Start of Production)
  • Improving performance during production

KBC's Approach

We work closely with our customers in the manufacturing environment—true to the motto: For management, with the employees. Each project phase requires a tailored approach. For contract awarding, we use the KBC Supplier Toolset to calculate production steps and non-production services in order to develop a reliable, competitive resource plan. Establishing subcontractor management early on (with a focus on equipment manufacturers) is the foundation of successful project execution. To ensure timely fulfillment of pre-series volumes during industrialization, we utilize customized, client-specific production analysis tools, along with our full commitment on the shop floor. Because only those who get a feel for production can effectively take on management tasks and achieve the big picture with detailed knowledge. To ensure that series production is not jeopardized, we focus entirely on efficiency. The use of proven key performance indicator systems and method sets to create transparency and derive sustainable measures forms the basis for this.

Impact achieved

We help our clients navigate the complex relationship between procurement and suppliers by ensuring transparency regarding capacity and financial requirements early in the bidding process, identifying and validating total process costs, and creating successful, competitive bids—thereby increasing the “success rate.”

We excel in efficiency when it comes to series production development. We successfully manage relocations, plant setups, and production line installations, ensuring smooth production launches and a consistent supply of pre-series parts. The significant reduction in quality issues (scrap reduced by 20%) is a success we are proud to highlight.
