Stabilizing the supply chain by establishing a consulting network
We established and managed a consulting network for a premium automobile manufacturer to provide ad hoc support to its suppliers and thereby stabilize the supply chain. As part of the network, our goal was to create on-site transparency and implement appropriate measures to optimize and ensure the supply of parts.

Background
The automaker faced challenges such as a lack of transparency in the supply chain, poor product quality from suppliers, and critical production ramp-ups. These issues jeopardized the smooth supply of parts and, consequently, the entire production process. Quick and effective solutions were needed.
Specific task
Our task was to establish and manage a network of industry and technology specialists for ad hoc assignments at critical suppliers, and to deploy network members based on the suppliers’ specific needs. The goal was to ensure a reliable supply of parts in terms of quantity, quality, and timeliness, while also supporting suppliers lacking the necessary expertise or effective management.
KBC's Approach
With the help of our in-house specialists, supported by our extensive network spanning all business units and manufacturing technologies, we acted quickly and effectively. Our approach included introducing relevant KPIs to increase transparency, creating realistic production and delivery schedules, and providing targeted support to suppliers to boost their output and reduce quality losses. We paid particular attention to new suppliers and critical start-ups following production relocations or the introduction of new products.
