Munich – KBC has again analysed last year´s car recalls. The result: Both the total number of recalls and the number of affected vehicles increased compared to 2017.

The analysis also showed that 2/3 of all recalls were allocated to premium OEMs (Mercedes leads the statistic, followed by VW and BMW). In most cases the parts causing the recalls were safety-relevent components (i.e., engine/fuel supply, suspension systems, seats and belts, airbag systems, steering systems). With 28%, the majority of recalls were caused by drivetrains and associated sytems.
