Efficient handling of recalls

Effective product recalls are crucial to a company’s success and customer satisfaction. In this regard, data transparency is key to enabling decisive action.

Background

Our client, a medium-sized company and market leader in the e-mobility sector, faced the challenge of efficiently managing a large-scale, global recall under tight deadlines.

Specific task

The first step was to identify the relevant data, make it accessible, and combine it into a meaningful model. The next step was to provide customer service with a tool containing all the relevant information needed to efficiently resolve open cases.

KBC's Approach

The challenges lay in processing heterogeneous data sources and performing the necessary text analysis to evaluate unstructured data. Using Excel and VBA, as well as BI tools such as Tableau, a tool was developed that effectively linked the various data sources and supported customer service in quickly resolving open cases, including progress monitoring.

A key factor in our success was the ability to analyze unstructured data. This enabled us to analyze existing communications related to open cases, thereby providing a comprehensive view to support decision-making.

Impact achieved

Thanks to the tool provided, existing information could be linked to the open cases. Within a short period of time, more than 50% of the open cases were closed.
