Design and realization of concept for the “factory of the future”

Globalization as well as ecological and economic factors are presenting companies with new challenges. A well-thought-out digitalization strategy can make your own value chain more efficient and sustainable and thus secure your competitiveness. This means developing a target vision today in order to derive the path to a successful future.

Background

Our client, a globally active industrial company, is facing new challenges in the value creation process. These require a rethink of the existing global production network and the technologies used in existing and planned plants.

Specific Task

The aim of the project is to develop a holistic vision and an action plan to realize the “factory of the future”. Digitalization is a key lever for achieving this vision. Networking and automation of production as well as transparency regarding digitalization initiatives and their synergies play a decisive role.

KBC Solution Approach

First, the requirements for the “factory of the future” were identified. This essentially involved working out and coordinating the requirements of customers and the (future) market, the company’s growth path and the sustainability of the production network. Based on this, the target image for the factory of the future was developed with the involvement of an interdisciplinary team. Finally, a roadmap with specific measures, priorities and responsibilities was derived to achieve the target vision.

Achieved Effect

A cross-organizational understanding of the requirements for the factory of the future was achieved. A joint target vision for the “Factory of the future” was defined and coordinated – showing a clear digitalization path for all teams involved.
