Project Example
Stabilizing the supply chain by establishing an advisory network
We established and managed a consulting network for a premium car manufacturer to empower its suppliers on an ad-hoc basis and thus stabilize the supply chain. As part of the network, our goal was to create transparency on-site and implement appropriate measures to optimize and ensure parts supply.
Background
The automobile manufacturer faced challenges such as a lack of transparency in the supply chain, inadequate product quality from suppliers, and critical production runs. These issues endangered the smooth supply of parts and the entire production process. Quick and effective solutions were required.
Specific Task
Our task was to build a network of industry and technology specialists for ad-hoc deployments at critical suppliers, manage the network, and deploy network members based on the suppliers’ requirements. The goal was to ensure parts supply in terms of quantity, quality, and timing while simultaneously supporting suppliers with lacking know-how or inadequate management.
KBC Solution Approach
With the help of our own specialists, complemented by our broad network across all business areas and manufacturing technologies, we acted quickly and effectively. Our approach included introducing relevant KPIs to increase transparency, creating realistic production and delivery planning, and providing targeted support to suppliers to enhance their output and reduce quality losses. We paid special attention to new suppliers and critical runs after production relocations or with new products.
