Program Management for Reducing Total Cost of Quality

For a leading automotive manufacturer, we designed and implemented a comprehensive program to reduce the Total Cost of Quality across all value-creating areas. Our goal was to improve product reliability and reduce quality costs in all company divisions.

Background

The client was faced with poor product reliability and rising quality costs in all value creation areas. There was a lack of clear measures and levers for cost reduction, as well as a structured planning and control concept for an effective quality program.

Specific Task

Our task included the conception, implementation, and operation of program management to reduce the Total Cost of Quality. This included all program processes with a continuous control concept, including planning and prioritization of quality measures up to implementation decisions.

KBC Solution Approach

We initiated and operated a program aligned with action needs, with assigned sub-programs. We prepared the target setting for the value-creating departments (Development, Purchasing, Production, Sales, Aftersales) and supported the process until agreement. We set up implementation tracking and reporting to ensure sustainable implementation of quality measures.

Achieved Effect

Through our approach, we succeeded in establishing all necessary program processes for effective and efficient measure control. We achieved high transparency regarding program goal achievement, planned and initiated 9 sub-programs, and supported 74 measures. The program significantly contributed to improving product reliability and reducing quality costs.
