Optimization of Supplier Quality for Production Plants of an Automobile Manufacturer

For a leading automobile manufacturer, we initiated and implemented a comprehensive program to optimize supplier quality for delivered parts in the production plants. Our goal was to improve quality across the entire supplier network and realign supplier management.

Background

The client was facing supplier-caused disruptions in worldwide production plants. There was a lack of uniform transparency regarding the non-quality of delivered parts, as well as a lack of comprehensive analysis and derivation of measures for critical supplier locations.

Specific Task

Our task included the strategic definition and alignment of a large-scale program for quality improvement. This involved initializing sub-projects and conceptualizing measures to address weaknesses. Additionally, the development of a comprehensive supplier evaluation logic and redefinition of supplier management was required.

KBC Solution Approach

We implemented an end-to-end supplier location management with a fast-acting tool set. Weaknesses in the supply chain were identified and corresponding measures were derived. We reviewed and analyzed the effectiveness of supplier measures and ensured ongoing transparency through consistent reporting on the non-quality of delivered parts.

Achieved Effect

Through our approach, we successfully established 5 sub-projects and managed a total budget volume of 100 million €. We created sustainable transparency through ongoing reporting on the improvement of supplier performance. The program was successfully defined, established, and is continuously maintained.
