This year, the \u201cPreventive Capacity Management Supply Chain Power Train Components\u201d project took second place and received the \u201cExcellent\u201d award. At the same time, this prize completes KBC\u2019s own medal collection (after the \u201cgold medal\u201d in the first year and the \u201cbronze medal\u201d last year).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is already the 9th time that \u201cBest of Consulting \u2013 Mittelstand\u201d honours Germany\u2019s best management consultants. Consultancies throughout Germany were called upon to have a customer project evaluated by a scientific advisory board and a jury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KBC Managing Director Stefan Kem\u00e9ny and Natalie Heizmann, Marketing Manager at KBC, accepted the award in D\u00fcsseldorf on behalf of all project team members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-h3\">The project Preventive Capacity Management Supply Chain Power Train Components:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>KBC was able to secure the supply of critical components along the supply chain in order to meet the requirements resulting from the petrol\/diesel exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-h3\">BACKGROUND<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Market fluctuations caused by the diesel scandal lead to a significant increase in the originally planned demand for petrol engines. In addition, the expected demand for electrified powered vehicles is rising much faster than originally forecast. The consequence of this market volatility is that the capacity limits in the supplier network for power train components are strained and, in some cases, overstretched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-h3\">THE SPECIFIC TASK<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Insufficient transparency on the current supplier capacity situation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Illustration of the suppliers\u2019 marginal capacities and their critical components (approx. 250 components)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Dynamic supplier performance review and capacity forecast to derive feasibilities of production programmes and scenarios<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-h3\">KBC SOLUTION APPROACH<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Identification of critical components together with specialists from the Purchasing, Quality and Logistics divisions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring of limiting capacities due to bottleneck process and tracking of the industrialisation time tables<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Development and implementation of a forecasting tool for the derivation of feasibility scenarios<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-h3\">REALISATION OF POTENTIAL<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Together with the customer, we were able to identify the risk levels and shorten industrialisation periods by developing capacity and industrialisation transparency for all critical components. The forecasting tool led to a reduction of the examining and verifiying for test orders &amp; scenarios as well as to the determination of proactive courses of action.
